Renewable
Water Resources
per Capita

Clean, safe drinking water is scarce. 1.2 billion people live in areas of physical water scarcity, a number projected to grow to 1.8 billion by 2025. Growing populations, consumption practices, and climate change are the leading causes of severe scarcity and decreased water quality. Water scarcity can result in economic losses due to crop failure, limited food availability, loss of environmental biodiversity and heightened global conflict. Renewable water resources across the world are displayed below in units of m3(H2O)/inhab/year.
